Two American Teams face each other in Olympics Women Beach Volleyball Final



Olympic beach volleyball final London Olympics have been a treat to watch with sports fans of all types following their favorite sport and their country’s progress. With several events concluded, the most awaited final of all of them is of Women’s event Beach Volleyball. With victories in both the semifinals by the U.S. teams, it is all set for an All-American Final. Jennifer Kessy and April Ross, the younger of the two American teams face off against the veterans the most decorated team of Women’s Beach Volleyball,  Kerri Walsh Jennings and Misty May-Treanor.


 The two teams go head to head after winning their semi-finals comprehensively. Jennifer Kessy and April Ross, who are more of a surprise package in this event progressed through to the finals after beating the World No.1 Brazilian Team. While Kerri Walsh Jennings and Misty May-Treanor, who are nothing less then legends since the Beach Volleyball was recognized as Olympic sport, beat the Chinese after a tough fight in two sets. The final is evenly poised for both the teams.

Jennifer Kessy and April Ross, belonging to California, had to give it there all to win the semi-finals. The Brazilians were a set up and had a four point lead in the second set, but the two American Ladies made a comeback to clinch the semifinal 15-21, 21-19, 15-12. After the match, Ross said,

“I can’t believe it. I only let myself picture it in my dreams. I never really expected it. I knew that we could do it, but the competition in the final four is so big.”

The other finalist, Kerri Walsh Jennings and Misty May-Treanor, also had a competitive game. Although taking the match in two sets, the veteran Americans had to give it their all to beat the Chinese. The pair is nothing less then a masterpiece when it comes to beach Volleyball. With 2 Olympics golds under their belts, (Athens and Beijing), the pair have reunited for their last Olympics with both ladies above 30 years of age. Regarding the final, Walsh Jennings had to say,

"It's an emotional thing. We have one more match together. It heightens everything. I'm determined to go out on top, because that's what we deserve."


Both teams will battle it to win the Gold and go home victorious but in the end its will be an all American Victory.


The final is due to take place on the 9th of August (8 pm GMT) on the Horse Guards Parade ground with Prince Harry and Prime Minister David Cameron likely to attend it. It will be a showdown between the two American teams. This will ensure two medals for the U.S. who are currently trailing in the medals race in the Olympics. All eyes are on the final due to the American’s men Volleyball teams failing to reach any of the medal matches of the events.
