The operating system that had a firm grip on the market bids farewell today. The most successful OS after Windows 98, Windows XP was used universally. After almost 13 years, Microsoft ends its support for Windows XP today, April 8th, 2014.
The operating system is still used by many and in several organizations including governments. Microsoft will provide critical updates to only its high-value customers but it is encouraging all of its customers to upgrade to Windows 7.
According to a survey by NetMarketShare, Windows XP still has about One Fourth of the market. The Change will be gradual as people will move towards Windows XP.
